One basic thing God had to teach Moses was to believe in himself. Same He did with Gideon – Judges 6: 12-17. Stop giving excuses not to believe in yourself. Moses too had excuses such as “I’m not good enough – Exodus 3:11”, “I don’t have all the answers – Exodus 3: 13;”, “People won’t believe me – Exodus 4:1;”, “I’m a terrible public speaker – Exodus 4:10;”, “I’m not qualified – Exodus 4: 13;” But you see God works with each of us where we are and takes us to where he wants us to be. We just need to be willing to leave behind the excuses. Most times, the problem is just the fact that we question our abilities, whereas the challenge we face would have easily been solved if we trust in what God has already given us.

God, in trying to work on Moses’ confidence asked him a very important question, “What’s that in your hand?” – Exodus 4:2; God was commissioning Him for the daunting task of delivering over a million Israelites from slavery in Egypt. And all Moses had in his hand was the wooden staff he had used for 40 years to tend his flock and sheep; and that was just all he basically needed, asides believing in himself. Too often like Moses when facing a task or challenge before us, we think our problem is that we lack some important ingredient or resource needed for success. “If only I had this or that…”, we complain. You may want to compare yourself with Moses by asking what’s in your hand. At least, I’m sure you still got life; “When there is life, there is hope”. Forget about the comparison with so called “mates” or “colleagues”. The truth is as long as you breathe, you feel and still can reason, then you still got time at your disposal; “It’s never too late until you’re late(dead)”. You definitely have a will; “Where there is a will, then there is a way”. Believing in yourself shouldn’t be misconstrued to not believing in God; in fact, as an extension of God on earth, believing in God should make you believe naturally in yourself. It was natural for David to easily kill the lion and the bear that attacked his sheep. He had so much confidence, that killing these dangerous animals was no big deal; this indeed is the concept of winning a battle before you fight it. – 1 sam 17:34,35; Between Elijah and Ahab, Elijah was confident that he could make it rain, even before he started acting towards it by praying. It simply means he already won before he started fighting or acting to win – 1 Kings 18:41 -45; Once you win the battle in your mind through your faith and belief, it doesn’t stop there.; this belief pushes you into action. If David never took a bold step of action in doing what he did, he will never have realized the reality of the strength he had within himself. If you can believe and conceive it than you can achieve it but if you never act there’s no way of achieving it. Most things you got unachieved today isn’t necessarily because you don’t have the capacity to achieve it, but rather, because you haven’t even acted. It’s as easy as saying there’s no way to certify an orange to be sweet until you taste it.

Another tool David used when about to face Goliath was experience - 1 Sam 17:36, 37. Knowledge is just information not applied but experience is information applied and potential results envisioned or seen; it’s the seed of knowledge planted and potential results as an offshoot. Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back. Progress is progress as long as you take steps forward. Falling doesn’t mean you remain fallen; being knocked down doesn’t mean you are knocked out; your resolve makes the difference. Experience is all about learning from past actions. While it’s good to learn from other people’s experiences, don’t let fear stop you from learning from yours. Have the “We Move” mindset; act and do the needful. Sadly though, a lot of people with experiences forget past experiences when faced with new challenges. Elijah just had a record breaking experience in – 1 Kings 18: 37-40; not long after this experience, his life was threatened by the queen and he fled not regarding his former victorious experience – 1 Kings 19: 1-4; Just as counting your blessings gives a reason to be grateful, a good positive flashback on how you pulled through past challenges gives a reason to believe you can pull through again. If your resorts don’t die, the results you seek will eventually come alive. Losing faith in yourself starves your resorts. God believes in you and also wants you to believe in yourself. Believe in yourself and never stop believing, because quitters never win.
